Affordable, efficient, and designed to build confidence, these sessions help students and families navigate the college search and application process with clarity. Most classes are under two hours and deliver practical strategies you can use immediately. Sessions can also be tailored to meet the specific needs of your group, making them a flexible option for schools, community programs, or even small groups of friends.
Offered through Elk River, Monticello and STMA Community Education programs, or available by request for your school or community group.
Navigating College Admissions
For high school students in grades 9–11 and their families, this class offers an expert-guided overview of the 4-year college application journey. Learn how to build a balanced list of "safety," "target," and "reach" schools, factoring in both admissions chances and affordability. We’ll cover key milestones, application components, and timelines to keep you organized and confident. Leave with a suggested timeline, practical tools, and clear next steps to manage the process with clarity.
Common App Boot Camp
Getting started is often the hardest part! In this quick-start, two-hour class, students will create their Common App accounts and learn how to confidently navigate the application process. We’ll cover the basics, explain tricky terms, and give you tools to stay organized through senior year. You’ll leave knowing exactly what to do next to keep your momentum going. Bring a laptop and a draft list of schools—no need to have it all figured out yet!
College Application Workshop Series
This multi-session workshop is designed for students seeking more than a quick start—they want sustained guidance every step of the way. Across several focused sessions, students will receive in-depth support to build a balanced college list, complete Common App profiles, refine activity lists, manage deadlines, and craft polished application essays. With expert coaching, personalized check-ins, and accountability, students will leave confident and prepared to submit strong, timely applications to their top-choice colleges.
College Essay Essentials
Strengthen your college application with a focused writing workshop for students targeting 4-year colleges, private schools, or competitive programs. This is an ideal follow-up to the Common App Bootcamp, offering a deeper dive into Common App prompts and other key essay topics. Learn what makes an essay stand out, explore creative strategies, and spark fresh ideas through guided brainstorming. Leave with clear next steps, inspired drafts, and the confidence to keep refining your work before senior year picks up.
